The Wedding Photography Process
Every wedding is different so this describes the general process and may change accordingly for your own wedding.

Booking the Date
After viewing our wedding galleries and rates, check the availability for your wedding date. If we're available, contact us to book the date!

Engagement Photos
If you book the wedding well in advance, you should consider sending a photo with your announcements. This is a great way to introduce the future bride and groom to not only future guests but those friends and family who end up being unable to attend.

The week before
You have so much to worry about as it is, we shouldn't be one of them! I'll call you several days before the wedding to check to see if you have any last minute requests or concerns.

Getting Ready on the Wedding Day
My day gets busy when yours does. As long as you start getting ready within 6 hours of the scheduled end of the reception, I'll be there to capture the candid moments of the bride, groom, parents, and wedding party getting ready.

These photojournalistic shots are great for a fine art book and tend to be my favorite photos of the day.

Portraits & the Ceremony
We highly recommend taking portraits before the ceremony. Photos before the ceremony are relaxed and always come out better than those after the ceremony, when the stress of having all those guests waiting can affect the photos. In an outside wedding, makeup is still fresh and nobody has started sweating. Please consider taking portraits before the ceremony!

If permitted, I prefer to use flash during the ceremony, bounced off the walls. If not allowed, I'll make do but will be much more limited in the shots as they will almost always require a tripod or increase the graininess of photos.

If your ceremony is at a different location than your reception, we have the opportunity to stop at an artistic spot for intimate photos of the bride and groom, such as a lake or a park. Again, tell me in advance so I can find good locations that will be quick to pull off.

The Reception
With the exception of traditional events such as cutting the cake, the flower toss, and first dances, I try to stay in the background but still try to stay with the bride and groom as much as possible during this time.

Unless directed otherwise, I try to wear all black to avoid standing out in your ceremony, video, or photos by guests.

Processing the Photos
I strive to have the photos processed a couple weeks after your ceremony.

Since I take 300-500 photos for every wedding, it takes a while to go through every singe photo. I remove any photos that are blurry, have unusable expressions, or otherwise aren't of interest. I adjust color and brightness to acheive consistant photos and touch up a few of our favorite photos from the wedding (at no extra charge).

Creating Fine Art Book Designs
After I process your photos, I move on to your book(s). This part of working with your photos turns the photos into a story and really illustrates the essence of the day.

When I complete the layout, I'll schedule a meeting to show you what I've created. Once the album has been designed, you may make up to five changes for free.

Once approved, we send the design to the book publisher. When that happens we can no longer make any changes and we can't add any additional copies without another setup fee. The publisher generally takes 3-4 weeks.

When we receive the books, we'll either deliver them to you ourselves or ship them. Of course, you're more than welcome to pick them up in person if you wish, just let us know when we order it so we can give you a call when they arrive.

Online Gallery & Prints
You'll be able to view (and order) the best of the bunch of the processed photos on your free preview proof gallery and share them with your friends and family.

I touch up all ordered prints, a process that can take anywhere from 10 minutes to an hour for every photo. Because this process is so time consuming, it's hard to say just how long it'll take and depends entirely on how much work I have in front of me when you order. Generally they are completed in less than two weeks.

Six Months Later
Six months after your wedding, I'll send out an email letter to alert you to the fact that the online preview will be expiring soon and to remind you to hurry up and order any desired prints, books, or albums. After the online preview gallery is removed, you'll need to visit us in person to order additional items within a year from your wedding date.
